FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO, ON – September 9, 2025 – Football Toronto today announced a landmark partnership with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, who will become a presenting partner for the historic 40th anniversary of the Metro Bowl, Toronto’s premier high school football championship.

The partnership will elevate the Metro Bowl experience for players, coaches, and fans. As part of their commitment, the Buffalo Bills will provide:

  • Financial support to enhance game-day operations and reduce costs for participating schools.
  • Exclusive prizes, including tickets to a Buffalo Bills home game for the Metro Bowl’s Most Valuable Player.
  • Co-branded apparel for all participating players and coaches to commemorate the 40th anniversary.
  • Game-day activations, bringing an NFL-level fan experience to the championship event.

This announcement comes as the Bills and MLSE launch a strategic alliance to connect with Canadian football fans and invest in the next generation of players.

The Metro Bowl partnership represents one of the major community initiatives under this new agreement with Football Ontario.

“This is a game-changing moment for high school football in our city,” said George Gretes, Board Chair of Football Toronto. “To have a world-class organization like the Buffalo Bills invest in our championship is a powerful validation of the talent and passion that exists here. For 40 years, the Metro Bowl has been a showcase for the best young athletes in the Greater Toronto Area, and this partnership will ensure its legacy continues to grow, inspiring thousands of young people to love and play this great game.”

The collaboration aligns with the Bills’ commitment to fostering football across Southern Ontario, their designated NFL Global Market. By linking with established community partners like Football Toronto, the Bills aim to create a lasting impact on amateur sport.

The 40th Metro Bowl is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 19, 2025, at Varsity Stadium. The event will cap the high school football season, pitting the champions of the winners of the Toronto Bowl (Toronto Public v Toronto Catholic) against the winners of the 905 Bowl (Peel vs. Durham).
